This site has a great list of free attractions but the ads are very intrusive. Hopefully they tone down the ads and make this site a bit easier to use. If you’re traveling in the USA this is a site you need to check before you leave home.

This is one of the biggest in the field but not the only one. Couch Surfing is a pared back version, find a “couch” in the town you’re visiting to sleep on.
